If you’d like lots of dinner party inspiration or just want to get some ideas for  some lovely food at home, this is for you! Suitable for all levels of cook or novice, you’ll love learning about the beautiful ingredients and get insights into clever techniques for making your cuisine ability even better! Kirstie and Simon (Papa) know their stuff and have a lovely manner.  They create an engaging and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of hands on cooking and learning.

Teachers: Kirstie Urquhart is a superb chef who worked for many years with us at Papadeli before setting up as a personal chef.  She is wonderfully inventive and knowledgeable and creates absolutely gorgeous food.

Simon MacDonnell, aka Papa, is co-founder of Papadeli and is still mad about good food over 20 years later! He know SO much about food, as you can imagine and loves sharing.

The Cookery School

Our cookery school, on the top floor above our deli, is a professional kitchen where our chefs create all the delights in the deli and superb food for catering events during the day – from canapés, buffets,  takeaway dishes, frozen meals and amazing cakes. In the evening, it’s a beautiful and perfect space for learning how to make all these dishes and taste some new flavours. If you ask nicely, Simon might give you a private tour of the deli…

You can purchase some of the oils, vinegars or special ingredients from the deli at a discounted price on the evening.

What you will make in this class:

Crostini with remoulade, trout and walnuts

Salchichon with pickled fennel

Salsify with Serrano ham and mustard mayo.

Aubergine caviar on crostini

Ceviche of bass with grapes, red onion and coriander

Duck breast with braised endive and gratin

Classic frisée, pancetta, crouton, mustard & walnut salad

Quince tart tatin

What’s included:

Hands on instruction on how to make the dishes. Small groups (max 10 people), the chance to get stuck in and make your own. It’s all very relaxed and friendly. It’s all abundant and seasonal and people love it!

All ingredients to create the above dishes. A couple of glasses of wine or soft drinks. A sit down meal where you’ll enjoy your creations and a parcel to take home any extras.  We’ll share the recipes with you too.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing! Just turn up ten minutes beforehand and we’ll let you in.  If you arrive late, please call 07785 328991 and we’ll come down and open the door.
