Our deli team are utterly dedicated to the cheese counter! They spend hours ensuring each cheese is beautifully looked after so that when you take it home, you will have the most delicious, perfectly ripe piece of cheese that will taste exactly as it should. Don’t like it ripe? They can advise you on which piece to choose to make sure it’s how you like it.
Not sure which cheese to buy? Our deli team can talk you through (and offer tasters) so that you can try new cheeses that you haven’t perhaps thought of before. There is so much choice in the cheese counter, why not work on trying them all?! There’s nothing nicer than finding a new favourite cheese and sharing it with friends and family.
We have lots of homegrown cheeses, from Wife of Bath, Cornish Yarg, Caerffili, Cheddar, Wigmore as well as many from further afield, such as Zamorano, Tomme de Savoie, Ossau Iraty, Mahon, Manchego, Pecorino etc. There are man sheep’s and goat milk cheeses too as well as some that are a combination. You can choose from matured or young cheeses – just come in to the deli and ask – we are very friendly!
As the festive season approaches, we sell a huge amount of the great traditional – Colston Bassett Stilton, Montgomery Cheddar, Pitchfork Cheddar and Brie de Meaux. Many of us love a cheese board with a selection of unusual, artisan crackers (try Fine Cheese Company or Italian crackers), fruit pastes such as membrillo/ quince (amongst many, many others!) or why not really go to town and have some panforte or fig wheel.
A beautiful alternative to Colston Bassett Stilton, for example os a Picos de Europa, slightly sharper and with a hint of creaminess, this Spanish blue is always a winner.
If you’d like to order your cheese before Christmas, call in to the deli or email us firstname.lastname@example.org. Buying cheese from a cheesemonger, where cheese is sourced from artisan producers and cared for properly makes an enormous difference to taste.
