You may have heard about The Black Sea Cookbook by Caroline Eden on Radio 4’s Food Programme and discussion about books.  Her journeys from Odessa to Ukraine through Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey highlight and celebrate culinary cultures that have until now been largely undiscovered.  Alexis, your teacher, has chosen some favourites to open the lid on an extraordinary world of delicious flavours – get ahead of the curve and come and learn more!

Cookery Classes

are small (a max of 10 people) and very hands on.  You get to use some of the finest ingredients, many which are found in our downstairs deli.  Cookery classes are fun and have an easy going atmosphere and are suitable for cooks and novices alike.

The chef teacher

Alexis John is a chef of many years’ experience and one of the finest in the South West.  She is a superb chef and enormously artistic as well as being warm, fun and approachable.  People rave about her brilliant classes!

Where do I come?

84 Alma Rd, Clifton BS8 2DJ. Top floor – we will let you in if you come to the bottom door shortly before 6pm.  If you are likely to arrive late, please email us in advance so we can arrange from someone to let you in.

What shall I bring?

Nothing – we supply all the ingredients, a glass of wine, apron and a box for you to carry your goodies home!
