The comforting foods of Venezia Giulia

Venezia Giulia
is the most Eastern region of Italy and is heavily influenced by the culinary traditions of the cooler climates of Austria and Hungary. The food remains true to its Italian roots, but we see polenta made slightly differently and prunes with grappa flavouring many dishes, bringing a Wintery feel.  Gnocchi are popular, often made with pumpkin or potato.  Puddings are warming and substantial – a must if you like warming, flavourful food.

What you will make*

Fried polenta with smoked ricotta
Beetroot and barley risotto with mountain cheese Guinea fowl, prune & grappa
Gnocchetti di zucca- pumpkin gnocchi with porcini cream
Torta di castagne – Chocolate & chestnut cake

*dishes subject to timings and availability

What shall I bring?

Nothing – we supply all the ingredients, a glass of wine, apron and a box for you to carry your goodies home!
